چکیده
Abstract Nowadays, research on additive manufacturing of Ti6Al4V alloy is growing exponentially but there are just a few studies about metal matrix composite components. In this work, highly reinforced composites with SiC particles have been additively manufactured by direct laser deposition (DLD). powder and deposited layer to form an thin wall structure. The Effect of Powder Recycling in Direct Metal Laser Deposition on Powder and Manufactured Part Characteristics
A potential way of improving the material efficiency and cost effectiveness of the Direct Metal Laser Deposition (DMLD) process is to take powder that is not utilised in each deposition attempt and re-use it in subsequent attempts (powder recycling). Currently, this is not widely implemented for fear of a detrimental effect on part quality. This study examines how powder recycling, using simple...
متن کاملComponent repair using laser direct metal deposition
Recent studies have indicated that laser direct metal deposition can be used for repairing deep or internal cracks and defects in metallic components. In order to implement the method, it is necessary to machine a groove or slot to the depth of the defect and refill it. This work investigates advantages and potential problems with the technique and compares the results from using two different ...
متن کاملLaser Ultrasonics for Non-destructive Evaluation of Metal Matrix Composites
Laser ultrasonics is based on the generation of elastic waves by transient surface heating or ablation with short laser pulses. These waves are traveling through the sample, are reflected and scattered at interfaces and the backside of the sample. To realize an ultrasound measurement device we have used either an interferometer coupled to a continuous wave laser (contact-free) or the sample was...
متن کاملDirect Deposition of Metal Film Patterns Using Nitrogen Laser
Rhenium, gold and platinum film micropatterns were obtained by the LCVD method on the surface of silicon and glass substrates from vapors of R ~ z ( C O ) ~ ~ , (CHg)~Au(dpni), P t ( l~fa)~, respectively. The heated reaction chamber at atmospheric pressure with a flow of an inert gas-carrier was used. The high marginal sharpness and the thickness uniformity of deposited films was provided by th...
متن کاملExperimental Analysis of the Direct Laser Metal Deposition Process
In the current economic situation, with a liberalized and worldwide trade, the weight of time and costs reduction for developing new products increases. In particular, the tooling processes, which are already expensive and time consuming, recently became a critical trouble. The geometric complexity, the number of variants and the amount of requirements that characterize the products that are re...
